Cory is a Journeyman Carpenter and the owner of Beacon High Performance Homes in Calgary, Alberta. After gaining extensive experience in commercial and custom home construction, he returned to SAIT to study Architectural Technologies. He then spent several years with SAIT’s Green Building Technology Access Centre, supporting innovative research projects and the development of continuing education training to help advance sustainable residential construction practices across the industry.

Driven by a desire to return to hands-on work and have a direct impact on the homes being built and renovated, Cory moved into high-performance residential construction and deep energy retrofits. Through Beacon High Performance Homes, he works on both new builds and existing homes, applying approaches that improve energy performance, indoor air quality, and occupant comfort. His project experience spans a range of building types and techniques, including a recent high-performance home incorporating rammed earth walls.

At the heart of Cory’s work is a passion for building with his hands and creating healthier, more comfortable homes for the people who live in them.
